Big Al is taking "Roll Tide" to the next level with this original, vintage-inspired Alabama Crimson Tide design. The Tide earned the nickname not from waves, but from the mud of a particularly rainy game against Auburn in 1907. Birmingham Age-Herald sports editor Hugh Roberts wrote how the Alabama team looked like a tidal wave covered in red mud on the field, and coined the phrase “Crimson Tide” to describe what he saw.
